Fire protection of buildings

and System firestops

Complete installation of firestop penetrations, inspections, and maintenance. In compliance with legislation and system certifications.

We are not just a material distributor - we provide full implementation, including installation and documentation.

Request a system

We ensure the fire integrity of your building.

Firestopping is used to ensure the fire resistance of structures penetrated by installations such as cables, pipes, and HVAC systems. The purpose of firestops is to prevent the spread of fire, heat, and smoke between fire compartments for a specified period.

At TOPSAFE, we implement firestops exclusively using certified systems with valid classification reports in accordance with ČSN EN 1366-3 and related standards. Our solutions meet the requirements of the fire safety design (FSD) and applicable legislation (ČSN 73 0810, Government Regulation No. 23/2008 Coll.).

Benefits

Fire resistance and smoke tightness
Maintaining the integrity of the structure at the penetration point (EI 30–EI 120). Limiting the spread of smoke and gases (Sa, S200).
Acoustic attenuation
Significant improvement of the acoustic performance of the partitioning structure.
Legislative compliance
Fulfillment of all inspection requirements for building approval and operation.
Records and inspections
Maintaining statutory documentation and performing regular inspections.

Systems and materials we use

Sealing compounds

Intumescent materials with a 30-year lifespan and sound insulation of up to 62 dB. Ideal for cables and pipes.

Fire collars and tapes

Mechanical protection for combustible pipes (up to Ø 400 mm), which activates within 2 minutes in case of fire.

CSL Expanding Mortar

Load-bearing, mechanically resistant sealant with fast curing (within 1 hour).

Firestop System CSL Board

Mineral boards with coating for large penetrations. Resistant to UV radiation, moisture, and frost.

Coatings for steel

Protection of load-bearing structures for up to 60 minutes, available in a wide range of 28 colors.

Fire extinguishers: supply, service, and inspection

Fire extinguishers

We offer comprehensive services for portable fire extinguishers (FE) for office, industrial, and residential buildings.

Wide selection

Powder (universal), water (solids), foam (liquids), CO₂ (electrical), and special (fats, metals).

Complete service

Supply, installation, statutory labeling, and record keeping.

Inspection

We perform regular annual service checks and inspections carried out by certified technicians.

Tailor-made Fire Safety Solutions

Design of optimal placement of devices according to the building’s fire safety plan.

Why entrust the implementation to professionals?

Most Common Mistakes

Unsuitable material instead of a certified system

Incorrect application (wall vs. ceiling, different type of penetration)

Mixing materials from different manufacturers invalidates certification

Missing inspection tags and entry in the fire protection logbook

Our Solution

We use certified systems and apply them according to protocols.

We select the appropriate system based on the structure and type of penetration.

We do not mix manufacturers, preserving certifications.

We provide complete documentation: tags, protocols, and records.

FAQ

What is a firestop and what is it used for?

A firestop is a system measure designed to seal openings where building services (cables, metal or plastic pipes, HVAC ducts) penetrate fire-resistance-rated structures (walls, ceilings). Its primary purpose is to restore the integrity of the structure and prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and heat to adjacent fire compartments for a specified period (e.g., 30, 60, or 90 minutes).

Who is qualified to install firestops?

Firestop installations may only be carried out by a trained person holding a valid certificate from the manufacturer of the specific certified system. After installation, the installer must issue a completion certificate and label the firestop with an identification tag.

What materials are most commonly used for firestop installations?

The choice of material depends on the type of penetrating installation and the required fire resistance.

The most commonly used materials are:
Firestop sealants and coatings: For small gaps and cable bundles.
Intumescent (expanding) tapes and collars: For plastic pipes that collapse under heat, allowing the collar to seal the opening.
Mineral wool boards with coating: For large penetrations with a combination of different installations.
Firestop mortars and foams: For solid and rapid sealing of openings.

How must a completed firestop be labeled?

Each completed firestop must be clearly labeled with an identification tag in its immediate vicinity.

The tag must include:
Type of firestop and the system used
Fire resistance rating (e.g., EI 90)Date of installation
Name and contact of the company or person who performed the installation
Optionally, the identification number of the firestop according to the project documentation

How often should firestops be inspected and checked?

According to the fire prevention regulation, the operational check of firestops (as a fire safety device) must be carried out at least once a year, unless the manufacturer or project documentation specifies a shorter interval. The inspection must be performed by a certified technician. Firestops must also be checked whenever there is an intervention in the installations (e.g., adding a new cable).
